You Can Be a Positive Impact in Your Community

By Jack Bingham

We've always said we're in the people industry. We truly believe a simple positive interaction can make someone's day, which can ripple through a whole community, and beyond that, change the world. That's not a tagline, it's the reason Wildflower exists.

But knowing where to start is the hard bit. So here's our little list, wherever you are.

Support local businesses

Every dollar spent locally keeps your neighbourhood's character alive, and local businesses give back in ways you don't always see. Next time you need an outfit, a coffee or a bite, look local first.

Volunteer

Op shops, kids' sport, environmental groups. There are heaps of organisations near you that run on volunteers, and an hour of your time is worth more than you think.

Be eco-conscious

Bigger than not littering (although, please). Remember the reusable bag, dine in with a mug instead of takeaway, or bring your own cup (we'll knock 50 cents off every time you do).

Show kindness

The simplest actions have the greatest impact. Hold the door, offer the smile, actually listen. Small acts of kindness are how communities become communities.

Start anywhere

You don't need a grand gesture. One good moment ripples further than you'll ever see. And if you want an easy place to start, come along to Hot Shots, our monthly community night. Bring a mate, meet some locals, be part of it. You are valuable, and so is what you bring.
