7 Reasons Why You Should Start Using a Reusable Cup

By Jack Bingham

Before you read this you should know, whether you're a daily reusable user or you've never owned one in your life, we've been there. And we have well and truly seen the light of the reusable cup world.

We can remember a time when bringing your own cup almost had a sense of arrogance about it, like you knew better than the café serving you. Imagine bringing your own beans and asking the barista to use those for your caramel mocha. It really was like that!

Thankfully, things have changed. Reusable cups are a staple now, accepted everywhere and often rewarded. Here are seven reasons to make the switch (breaking a habit is not easy, but once you do this one you'll never look back).

1. Less waste, every single time

We'll keep this one short and free of statistics. Single use cups and lids end up in a hole in the ground, and that's not great for our lovely earth. Every time you refill a reusable, that's one less cup and lid buried. Pretty cool.

2. Your coffee stays hotter

A good reusable insulates far better than a paper cup. Jack once left for a Sydney trip with two coffees in Wildflower cups, finished the latte in the first twenty minutes, then sipped the long black the whole way down and took the final sip HOT on arrival (what a feeling, honestly).

3. It saves you money

Plenty of cafes discount your coffee for bringing your own cup. At Wildflower it's 50 cents off, every coffee, every visit, forever. A daily coffee habit in a reusable pays for the cup itself before you know it.

4. It tastes better

Paper, plastic and foam absolutely affect the taste of your coffee, and not in a good way. Stainless steel, ceramic or glass won't. You also get to choose the lid shape that suits you, which sounds small until you find the one you love.

5. They look amazing

If it's going everywhere with you, like your phone case or your outfit, your cup should reflect your personality. Are you an all black everything person (Jack) or bright and sparkly (Ri)? There's a cup out there for you.

6. They're built to last

Some of our favourite customer stories involve cups left on car roofs, found the hard way. We're not saying it keeps the coffee inside (it absolutely does not), but the cup itself comes out the other side looking brand new. Camping, hiking, hundreds of washes, no worries.

7. Our takeaway cups have a backup plan anyway

If you forget your cup at Wildflower, you're not the villain. Our takeaway cups are fully home compostable. But the reusable is still the better move, for the planet and your pocket.
