Specialty Coffee in Wallsend, Newcastle
Wildflower Espresso has been pouring coffee at 71 Cowper St in Wallsend since 2018, when Jack and Ri built the cafe in 100 days and blogged every single one of them.
We pour Glee Coffee, roasted just 40 minutes down the road by people who actually know the farmers (most of the mills they buy from are independently owned by families or local co-ops). The beans rotate regularly, the milk is from Little Big Dairy Co (a family-owned dairy in NSW), and we run it through a Milk Juggler so we're not blowing through plastic bottles every week.
We've been Wallsend's local for coffee for years now. Most days you'll walk in and we'll know your name, your order, and probably how your weekend went.
What we pour
We serve specialty coffee daily. Flat whites, lattes, batch brew, cold brew, espresso, the lot. Our seasonal specials are where it gets fun (think iced lattes with lavender cold foam, pine lime sodas with coconut cold foam, that kind of energy). If you bring a reusable cup we'll knock 50 cents off, every time. About 20 to 30 percent of the coffees we make every day go into a customer's own cup, and we love that.
Our takeaway cups are fully home-compostable, just in case you forget yours.
A little more than coffee
If you're hungry, we do toasties (made from local ingredients), bagels, banana bread, and a constantly changing menu of pastries, cakes and slices. Short and sweet, the stuff that actually goes well with a coffee. (We're not trying to be a full brunch spot, we're trying to be your favourite cafe.)
Where to find us
71 Cowper Street, Wallsend NSW 2287. Open Monday to Saturday from 6am until 12:30pm. We're closed Sundays.
There's free parking out front and around the back, the entrance is wheelchair accessible, and yes, we're dog friendly.
Why people keep coming back
We say it a lot, but it's true: we're in the people industry. The coffee is just what we do on the side. Wildflower is a place to start your day with someone who knows you, gather with mates, or sit on your own for ten minutes and breathe before everything kicks off.
If you've never been, come say hi. If you're a regular, you already know.
